The March 2010 issue of News Photographer magazine features some of the special moments captured in photographs during the 17 days of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games and comments from some of the photographers who were lucky enough to find the world's most talented amateur athletes in their viewfinders for two weeks in Canada. Also in this issue, Seth Gitner writes in his monthly feature Multimedia Moments about Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer John Kaplan's new film, "Not As I Pictured," a first-person account Kaplan made about his battle with cancer; NPPA members Louie Palu and Juliette Lynch won this year's Alexia Foundation grants for professionals and students; Indiana University journalism professor and National Geographic photographer Steve Raymer writes about Haiti's ongoing disaster and the ethics of student coverage; and Stephen Wolgast reviews two new books from NPPA members, Ben Garvin's "Ant Farm" and Joel Sartore's "Rare." The February 2010 issue of News Photographer magazine features the cover story "Haiti's Anguish." As photojournalists from around the world descended on Haiti following a devastating and deadly earthquake, where hundreds of thousands were killed and millions left homeless, the world saw through photographs the surreal extent of the destruction in a nation already pummeled by its history of bloody revolutions, abject poverty, and deadly hurricanes.
Also in this issue, photojournalist Leif Skoogfors shares his story about living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for a second time; Stephen Wolgast reviews Steve McCurry's new book "The Unguarded Moment"; and television news director Julie Moravchick, who has started two news operations from scratch, asks "How did this happen again?" in her first person account "A (Not) Working Mom." These and other features in the February 2010 issue of News Photographer magazine.
