With an advantageous height, she made her entry into the world of fashion. She did a few fashion shows before she went in for the Femina Miss India pageant. Her decision to join movies was well accepted and Bollywood welcomed her with open arms. She made her debut in ‘Dastak’. The film was a dud at the box office. Soon another flop ‘Zor’ followed. Things were not going right for her. She was dubbed too westernized, too tall for Indian heroes. But Sushmita has accepted it all with a pinch of salt. The success of Biwi No.1 along with her dance number in Sirf Tum, Fiza and Kyonki… Main Jhooth Nahi Bolta changed her equation in Bollywood. She has got very rave reviews for convincing portrayal of her character in the film Filhaal. On a personal front, Sushmita is a charmer, an easygoing person who loves writing poetry. She has adopted a baby girl whom she has named Renee. Renee was apparently a sick and unhealthy baby when Sushmita decided to adopt her. Life for Sush has changed ever since. She supposedly is said to have changed her habits, so that they would not influence the child as she grows. This ex-Miss Universe remains a much sought after woman today and the common man’s ultimate dream and fantasy.
